OS VectorMap District
OS VectorMap District is a contextual or backdrop map data product that that provides a district resolution view of the landscape.
It can be customised by selecting and styling geographic features to deliver the best presentation for your own data and location information
- Shows enough detail to provide geographical context, yet avoids the visual clutter that could obscure your data overlay
- Available as both pre-styled static images (raster data) and points, lines and polygons (vector data) that you can customise
- Free to use for commercial, educational and personal purposes
Usage
- Provides a clear visual backdrop map that can be easily styled to meet specific needs
- Offers flexibility to user through ease of use to control content display
- Analyse data in relation to important public buildings, roads, railways, lines and more
- Compatible with other open datasets available from data.gov.uk and many other sources
- Enables you to present town-level development proposals, such as the route of a new road or footprint of a housing estate, clearly to the public and other stakeholders
- Now includes the addition of functional sites (such as education facilities, medical care and airports), improved road styling as well as more flexible and improved styling capability
