From industry specific seminars to international conferences and trade fairs, one thing is guaranteed - there is always a lot going on within the geo-community calendar. The 2016 Getmapping geospatial event programme has proven to be the busiest year yet and last week we attended our last event of the year, the GeoDATA London Showcase.
Getmapping have been regular exhibitors at GeoDATA events for the past few years. We’ve always found the events to be well attended, primarily due to them offering a successful mix of exhibitors showcasing geospatial data, software and services alongside free educational seminars.
This year’s London Showcase event, held on the 1st of December, was no exception. The main hall was buzzing with chatter. With 50+ exhibitors plus a steady stream of delegates, GeoDATA offered plenty of opportunities to network with friends and colleagues within the industry and, perhaps more importantly, enabled us to also touch base with existing customers and new contacts.
As always the event offered access to a diverse range of leading geospatial experts promoting a wide range of services. From 3D Modelling software, GIS software providers and addressing solutions, to membership associations, education providers and research services, the main hall was busy, especially during the break out time from seminars.
With 3 seminar streams running in parallel, GeoDATA’s seminar programme included ‘How To’ education and guidance alongside thoughts on current geospatial trends and views on future innovations.
The Getmapping team had many conversations with colleagues, customers and new contacts regarding our high resolution aerial imagery, and in particular, there was a lot of interest in our industry-leading WMS/WFS data streaming services.
This year we showcased our Street Layer survey car and mobile mapping kit which drew lots of attention, and we came away with a number of survey opportunities for both here in the UK and for international locations.
All in all the Getmapping team thoroughly enjoyed the show, we definitely consider it a worthwhile event in the geospatial calendar – so much so that we rebooked for next year’s show on the day. A big thank you to the GeoAware team for all their hard work in arranging and hosting the series of GeoDATA events.
2016 has been our most active year yet for attending geospatial events - throughout the year we have exhibited at over 15 events across Europe. Our exhibition kit is now packed away as our next planned event is in March 2017 which, considering the fast pace of the geospatial industry, will be here before you know it.
